This can be accessed through the HSE clinics if you have received a message or if you have a query in this regard, please email info@thepalmssurgery.com

We have been provided with a limited supply of booster doses and it is important to note that the HSE is also providing these boosters through vaccination centres and pharmacies. https://www2.hse.ie/screening-and-vaccinations/covid-19-vaccine/get-the-vaccine/booking/

Please wear a loose-fitting shirt or blouse when attending the clinic, as the vaccine will be given in the upper arm.

Car park space is very limited so please try to park in nearby car parks if possible.

How long to wait before getting a booster?

You need to wait 4 months since your 3rd vaccine dose before you can get this booster. You also need to wait 4 months since an episode of Covid 19 infection confirmed by antigen or PCR test.

Booster dose safety

A COVID-19 vaccine booster dose has been recommended by the National Immunisation Advisory Committee (NIAC) in Ireland Approved by the European Medicines Agency (EMA)

Which vaccine you will be offered

The HSE has provided GPs with the Moderna vaccine (Spikevax) for this booster campaign. This is an mRNA vaccine similar to the Pfizer/BioNTech COVID-19 vaccine used previously in the over 65 age group. This is the only vaccine we will have to administer for this booster campaign.

Vaccine precautions

The following patients should NOT receive Moderna vaccine (Spikevax)

  • Patients needing medical resuscitation following a previous dose of Covid 19 mRNA vaccine, either Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna.
  • Patients diagnosed with myocarditis following a previous dose of Covid 19 mRNA vaccine, either Pfizer/BioNTech or Moderna.
  • Patients with previous anaphylaxis to polyethylene glycol or trometamol.
  • Do not attend for your booster appointment if you have Covid 19 infection or symptoms of Covid 19 infection or are otherwise feeling unwell and have a documented fever >38C.

EU Digital COVID cert

Following administration, your vaccine will be uploaded to the HSE vaccination website. This will inform any changes needed to update your EU digital cert.
